Have Healthy Hair! Here's How
Healthy hair is a sign of a healthy body. Steady growth, shine, and elasticity are all important aspects of healthy, luscious locks! We all have different kinds of hair textures. Whether yours is curly, wavy, straight, flat, voluminous, thick, thin, coarse, or fine, your hair can be manageable and healthy! Healthy hair comes down to your overall and internal health! Healthy hair that has less to do with shampoos and conditioners and more to do with healthy foods and nutrients for your hair!
Eggs
Eggs are the go to food for scalp health and healthy hair. They are rich in many important nutrients. Specifically, eggs are rich in biotin, which is a B vitamin. You can take vitamin supplements, but it is best to maintain a healthy, nutrient dense diet for hair health. Eggs are easy to implement into your diet. Swap our your morning breakfast, for a delicious, savory omelette.
Salmon
Another great food for healthy hair is salmon. It is rich in a variety of B vitamins, specifically B6 and B12. These two vitamins are specifically involved with the creation of red blood cells, which carry nutrients all over the body, including the scalp and hair follicles.
Spinach
Spinach is an amazing food. It is an excellent source of folate and iron. These nutrients work together to support healthy blood cells. The iron is important so that the red blood cells carry oxygen, allowing them to function properly.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are another important food for healthy hair. This is because of the Vitamin A. Vitamin A is necessary for cell growth, which includes hair! Without vitamin A, hair tends to be dry, dull, and more prone to damage. Avoid supplements with vitamin A because too much vitamin A can actually cause hair loss. Maintain a healthy level of vitamin A by eating sweet potatoes, carrots, kale, dark green lettuces, and asparagus.
Implementing these nutrient dense foods into your diet will surely help you have healthy hair that is growth steadily and is more manageable. Of course, there are external ways to take care of your hair too. Here a few tips on external hair care:
- Don’t sleep with your hair in a bun. It causes damage to the hair around the elastic band.
- Always use conditioner in the shower.
- Rinse your hair with cold water after you wash it. It will help lock in moisture and improve your hair’s elasticity.
- Don’t shampoo your hair every day, it takes away the natural oils on your scalp that keep your hair healthy!
- To avoid tangling, comb your hair from the ends and work your way up to the roots.
