Have a Healthy Halloween
A healthy Halloween can be enjoyable for everyone! Healthy, delicious snacks and yummy treats won’t leave anyone feeling nauseous and sick, so you and your family can enjoy a happy Halloween.
Why Should You Implement a Healthy Halloween?
It seems tough to implement health into a holiday that is based all around candy, but it is worth the effort.
- Avoid temptation.
Eating a bunch of Halloween candy is going to make you crave those tempting sweets even after Halloween ends. You will have to start over again to work up the willpower to avoid future sugar cravings. The same goes for children! Children will crave candy after Halloween. They will probably ask for candy from the grocery store, and we all know how difficult it is to say “no” in the grocery store. The solution is a to have a healthy Halloween!
- Kids won’t have moody sugar highs.
After consuming a lot of sugar, many kids get ornery and irritable. They are experiencing high levels of glucose, which affects their energy levels. Giving them healthy choices this Halloween will keep them feeling energized and happy. This year, aim to eliminate any sugar-induced temper tantrums.
- No tummy aches!
This is huge. Kids, especially kids that have a generally healthy diet, are bound to get a stomach ache on Halloween. Their systems aren’t used to the sugar. A healthy Halloween will help your kids enjoy their costume and activities without feeling brought down by a stomach ache.
How Can You Implement a Healthy Halloween?
Now that I’ve stated why a healthy Halloween is a good idea, I have some tips on how to implement it! It probably won’t be a popular idea among your kids in the beginning, but talking to them and explaining why you’re doing it will be helpful!
- Explain
Explain to your children, before Halloween, why you want to have a healthy Halloween. Tell them that you want them to avoid getting stomach aches or feeling sick.
- Activities
Plan fun Halloween activities that are not centered around candy! Have a pumpkin painting station, pin the stem on the pumpkin, costume dress-up, etc.
- Fresh Treats
Make your kids’ favorite desserts that you would normally bake! Fresh ingredients, even it if is sugar, is far better for you and your family than packaged candy.
I hope you can implement a healthy Halloween, or at least limit the amount of candy that is consumed! If you are looking for extra support on your journey toward a healthy lifestyle, please contact me! I would love to help you reach your fitness and health goals. :)
